Vote!
We are just days away now from the most important presidential election in the history of this country, and I’m not going to mince words—every Christian in America needs to get out and vote.
In the 2020 election, we learned that some 30 percent of the Christian population in this country didn’t bother to vote. And look where we are now.
Much is at stake in America, and the freedoms that we have come to love and appreciate are under attack. This is not the same country it was just four years ago, and having watched it change for the worse, I don’t understand how any sane, sensible believer can sit back and not recognize that our Republic is at risk.
It’s interesting, Christians don’t mind us talking about the freedoms that we have in this country, one being the freedom of speech, which allows us to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ around the world. But a surprising number of believers don’t want to hear a word about political leaders or policies that threaten to silence that freedom.
I’m so very tired of reading emails from Christians that say, “You need to stay off politics and keep in your own lane.” Well, we are not going to stop talking about abortion, because taking a child’s life while it’s still in its mother’s womb is not a political issue, that’s a moral and spiritual issue. The right to life is one of the most important issues in this election, and we need the Christian community to support that. We need a president in office who believes in the sanctity of life and is pro-life, not someone who champions a woman’s right to choose abortion up to the day of delivery. As Christians, we cannot look the other way on this issue.
Neither is opposing Marxism a political battle; it is spiritual. The very heartbeat of socialism, Marxism, and communism is atheism—a hatred of all things that are good, righteous, and spiritual. Socialism goes against the Bible—the redistribution of wealth means stealing from one and giving to another, which encourages covetousness.
Same-sex marriage, transgenderism, human trafficking, drug trafficking, and the surge of violent crime in this country—these, too, are biblical issues, not political issues. If you vote the wrong way in November, then you are voting for the murder of innocent babies, voting for the destruction of the home as God designed it, and supporting a political system that is anti-Bible.
Apart from Christians who want nothing to do with politics, you have believers so frustrated by what they see happening in America that they want to do more than just pray; they want to takesome sort of action asking, “What can we do?” What they’re not seeing is that the strongest protest by Christians is them going to the polls and voting. We can vote those rascals out—those who are not true to the Constitution of the United States or the Word of God. That’s the greatest protest, and we can do so peaceably, coming together in Christian unity all over the nation. When Christians go to the polls and vote, we demonstrate against what is evil, and raise the volume ofour collective voice, proclaiming what is right. You have that opportunity; I have that opportunity, and we’ve got to take advantage of it.
One more thing, we don’t believe that a person can call himself a Christian and still vote for candidates who are clearly anti-God and anti-Bible. Abortion and same-sex marriage are always the two issues of great concern. Again, these are not political issues, they are moral issues, and the Bible speaks clearly on each one, fully and completely—both are sins. If you don’t think these are sins, then you haven’t read your Bible. And if you have read your Bible on these subjects and still think they are not sins, then you are denying what the Bible teaches. Folks, the Word of God is truth, and the Lord knows how badly abortion and same-sex marriage destroys individuals and wrecks homes. If these sins go unchecked, not only will they keep destroying families and homes, but they will eventually destroy our country.
Ephesians 5:8 says, “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.” That means Christians are to promote, hold up, and proclaim holiness and righteousness. This passage goes on to say, “(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.” Is abortion acceptable to the Lord? No! Is same-sex marriage acceptable to the Lord? No! The Lord Himself performed the first wedding ceremony between a man and a woman. Reading on, Ephesians 5:11 is key: “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” So to all the Christians out there still clinging to the pro-choice party, why aren’t you obeying the Word of God?
As we approach November 5, we are keeping this election in constant prayer. With the July 13 assassination attempt on former President Trump still fresh in our minds, we are praying against any evil plots of harm or violence against any of the candidates or their supporters. We’re asking the Lord for a result that cannot be questioned, and that the outcome, whatever it is, will be accepted and not incite rioting, looting, or unrest. We’re praying for all believers who may still be undecided on who to vote for, that they will research for themselves what each party platform stands for, how it lines up against the Word of God, and then make up their minds to vote. Every Christian needs to do their part because the future of America is too important for any of us to sit back and do nothing.
